United Patients Group Presents Medical Cannabis-The ScienceThe Truth

The United Patients Group (UPG) is one of the leading online resources for medical cannabis information Founded in 2011 by husband and wife team John and Corinne Malanca, the duo came up with the idea for UPG after Corrine’s father Stan Rutner was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which eventually spread to his brain. Using medical cannabis as a form of treatment was the only option they had left, so the Malancas turned to the plant for help. Within nine months, Corrine’s father’s condition had improved exponentially, as we reported on back in 2014. After witnessing the miraculous healing benefits of cannabis, the Malancas wanted to explore the science of the miraculous cannabis plant and share its healing properties with others who might also benefit from it.

With the intent of offering safe and accurate information concerning medical cannabis and how it affects each individual patient, UPG provides a variety of resources for interested patients. For those just starting their medical cannabis journey, UPG offers consultations and informative links on how to become a legal patient and where to obtain legal medical cannabis products. UPG also offers a wealth of “Foundation Profiles,” which allow families to share their personal experience with medical cannabis, and also help raise funds for their non-profit organizations.

In 2015, UPG expanded its resources to businesses, offering consultation for entrepreneurs, government officials and health care professionals, amongst others. The group collaborated with United in Compassion, based in New Zealand, to bring together medical experts who could inform the Ministry of Health on the scientific facts associated with medical cannabis last year. This meeting marked the

first time that experts from the U.S. partnered with an international organization to further explore the effects of medical cannabis—and much more can be expected to come from UPG in the future.

With its expert knowledge, UPG is aware of the widespread use of medical cannabis and every year it hosts an informative seminar that highlights the effects of medical cannabis on different conditions. This seminar features lectures from medical professionals and patients sharing testimonials of their experiences with medical cannabis. This year’s event, “Medical Cannabis: The Science. The Truth.,” will allow patients to not only sit in on lectures from leading professionals in cannabis medicine but participate in hands on courses too. These courses, which are intended for healthcare professionals, will cover the latest in medical cannabis science and clinical care, and can go toward credits for UPG’s Medical Cannabis Institute.

UPG’s event will feature an amazing list of influential people currently exploring medical cannabis. Some of the speakers appearing at this year’s event include Dustin Zulak of Integr8 Health, a company that provides patients with individual recommendations and education, CULTURE’s B2B cover feature this month, Ethan Russo formerly of GW Pharmaceuticals and Julie Holland, author of The Pot Book: A Complete Guide to Cannabis. This year there will also be a panel of NBA and NFL players discussing the differences of medicating with cannabis versus pharmaceuticals and other inspiring testimonials like 15-year-old Crohn’s Disease patient Coltyn Turner who was able to give up using a wheel chair after medicating with cannabis.

Leading the industry in honesty and integrity, UPG is not only the number one resource for cannabis education, but it has helped to create the foundation of a safe industry for patients and businesses, and has supported many families and individuals throughout their healing process. UPG has provided countless opportunities for education and assistance in the cannabis community, and this event is the perfect seminar for those who want to become more informed on cannabis for professional or medical purposes. If you want the opportunity to become a part of America’s biggest community that is working to change the face of medicine nationally and internationally, this is the place to be.
