How and when did your collective start up?

We started in May, after a group of colleagues realized we are all equally dedicated and passionate about spreading knowledge of the healing powers of medicinal marijuana, and we wanted to educate and help our local community.

What’s the story behind the name of your collective?

We thought about a few different names, but with all of the collectives in Michigan, it was hard to come up with a catchy name that wasn’t already taken.

What does your collective offer patients that they can’t find anywhere else?

The dedication, passion and drive to share what medicinal marijuana can do for such a broad spectrum of people. We want to educate as many people as possible on how cannabis can truly improve their quality of life.

How has the cannabis industry changed since you have been in the business? Where would you like to see it go?

Since we’ve only been open for two months, not much has changed, but we would like to see the industry continue to move forward with a multitude of ways to treat people suffering from a wide range of diseases and conditions. We want to see the benefits of cannabis reach as many people as possible.

What are the biggest challenges you face in this industry as a collective? . . . Biggest joys? The main challenge we’ve faced so far is getting members of the community to feel comfortable enough to try medicinal marijuana. There has been such a stigma attached to marijuana for so long that some people have a hard time trying something new. The biggest joy is definitely when a patient comes in asking for help; when they come back they’re absolutely ecstatic that something like this has the power to change their lives.

What is the one thing you want patients to know about your collective?

You will never feel more at home than you will at The Flower Bowl. Here, every patient is family to us.

If someone wanted to open a collective and get their feet wet in the industry, what advice or counsel would you give them?

We would have to say get a great attorney and accountant first, then contact the local government and make sure they are receptive and approve of your business operating in their area, that’s extremely important!

What is the most important thing you hope to accomplish while in the cannabis community?

Spreading the wealth of knowledge that we’ve all been so fortunate to acquire. We want to help everyone understand and show them medicinal marijuana can help people of all ages in such an extreme variety of ways.
