How and when did your dispensary start up?

On November 10, 2009, The Farm first began serving patients as a medical dispensary, obtaining one of the first licenses available in Boulder. In April 2014, The Farm converted to an adult-use, recreational dispensary and we are now open to the public, 21 and over. The Farm solidified its reputation as the finest dispensary in Boulder in 2015, winning the coveted “Best of Boulder” award for a Recreational Dispensary. A few months later, The Farm won the Customer Service category at “The Cannabist Awards,” chosen from an impressive list of noteworthy Colorado marijuana businesses. Professional, friendly and inviting, The Farm is a marijuana dispensary where everyone can feel comfortable with their new-found freedom, the freedom to openly and proudly shop at a main street location to legally purchase high-grade cannabis, finally.

What’s the story behind the name of your shop?

The Farm name and its logo, the Cow, are more significant than most people know. The founders of The Farm are from the Midwest and hold strong agrarian values of integrity, honesty and hard work. We’re a little old fashioned. It seemed a perfect fit to name our company The Farm, as we’re also in the business of agriculture, only growing a different kind of crop. The Cow was born naturally and symbolically, since she loves grass, spending long days grazing in the pastures. She’s a staple of the farm, some consider her sacred, the feminine, a black and white caregiver, similar to her Holland cousins, the Holsteins.

What are the biggest challenges you face in this industry as a dispensary? Biggest joys? Navigating the seas of compliance is our biggest challenge. We often say we’re in the compliance business first, cannabis second. 

It brings us joy to act as models for responsible adult use. We are joyful to be pioneers in the movement to end cannabis prohibition. We find joy in the endeavor of shifting the common perception of marijuana consumers built via propaganda campaigns to the loving, inclusive community alive today. Being recognized as the “Best Recreational Dispensary” by the Best of Boulder in 2015 and referred to by many as the “nicest dispensary in all of Colorado” is very rewarding. Our joys are many.

What is the one thing you want patients to know about your dispensary?

We want to clarify what we mean when we talk about Craft Cannabis. Craft Cannabis is the result of our company ideology. It’s the product of an artful attunement of our entire team with the plants in combination with a specific set of protocols.  The Farm cultivates 100 percent of our own cannabis in Boulder, CO. We are passionate about producing only the best cannabis. We care about the health and well-being of our customers, our employees and our community. At our core, we are Craft Cannabis growers and we don’t sell anything we wouldn’t smoke ourselves.
