Stick around long enough in the marijuana community and someone is bound to name a strain after you. In Willie Nelson’s case, there are probably as many strains as arrests. Reeferman’s Sour Willie is a legend in its own right, combining the ’05 Cannabis Cup-winning Willie Nelson with a potent Sour Diesel. Just like its comically unfortunate name suggests, this is a great nug for lightening the mood after a tense day, with body sensations limited to behind the eyes and warming up the stomach for a big meal. This sativa-on-sativa action is not recommended for anxiety, as you may find yourself stuck in your head like a song on repeat. The Sour Willie we picked up at Denver’s Urban Dispensary has light undertones of diesel fumes with a comforting floral finish that’s reminiscent of fresh laundry out of the dryer. Obviously hand trimmed with an attention to detail, a flurry of trichome heads contribute to a really nice finish on the palate that’s somewhere between cherry cotton candy and Bazooka bubblegum, which you might have to be as old as Willie himself to remember.
