Considered a forefather of the stoner/doom metal scene, Sleep will be making a stop in SoCal to rock out the City of Angels. Even before its reunion in 2009—the band disbanded in 1997 following the release of Sleep’s Holy Mountain (1993)—Sleep had released seminal albums Jerusalem (1999) and Dopesmoker (2003). Following the reunion, the band had been spreading its influential dominance of the genre in England and the U.S. Despite disbanding over a decade ago, Sleep’s music established a standard for the scene, with record stores continuing to sell Sleep’s albums posthumously. You can say that they’ve . . . woken up.
