Canadian actor and writer Seth Rogen took to Twitter with an announcement regarding the expansion of his cannabis company, Houseplant, into the US.

In a heartfelt Twitter post and video, Rogen shared his feelings about the initial thought of owning his own cannabis business. “Almost ten years I go, I envisioned having my own weed company. And today I can say that my company Houseplant’s weed will be available in California next week! Also, Houseplant is making lovely Housegoods like ashtrays, lighters, and YES, even ceramics. http://houseplant.com”.

Houseplant launched almost two years ago in Canada between Rogen and his business partner, Evan Goldberg. “We are so proud to be launching in Canada, our home,” Goldberg said in a press statement in March 2019. “After spending five years diligently preparing for the launch of this company, we’re excited to be able to share our passion for cannabis with Canadians in this way.” At the time, the company sold numerous strains varieties, as well as hopes for softgels and pre-rolled joints in the near future.

Now Houseplant will be expanding into the US, specifically California for the time being, as of March 11. Houseplant was born out of our love and passion for cannabis, design and art,” Rogen said in a press statement. “Evan and I also recognize that our lifelong dream of starting a cannabis lifestyle brand like Houseplant comes with a commitment to changing the unjust and racist cannabis laws that still exist in today’s society. We understand our responsibility to help right those wrongs and are dedicated to creating a more diverse, equitable cannabis industry.” For this new move, the company will offer three flower strains (two sativa and one indica) as well as three items referred to under the name “Housegoods” products: a Block Table Lighter, Vinyl Box Set and an Ashtray Set. In future weeks, the company will unveil more Housegoods items.Houseplant’s cannabis products will only be available in California via a delivery service at first, but the company’s press release states that the products will slowly make their way to select dispensaries this spring. In the meantime, the company’s Housegoods will be available for shipping throughout the US.
