Sephora Starts Selling CBD Products in Stores
[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]O[/dropcap]n July 12, Paris, France-based beauty merchant Sephora began selling CBD-infused products at 171 stores in multiple U.S. states, beginning with Lord Jones luxury CBD products. Sephora stores will sell Lord Jones’ body lotion and body oil, which are infused with 100 mg of broad-spectrum CBD. Coming up in September, the stores will begin to sell Lord Jones’ Royal Oil.
Cindy Capobianco is Lord Jones’ co-founder, and she was curious about CBD products early on. “About a year before we launched on Sephora.com, Cindy met Cindy [Deily, VP of skincare merchandising at Sephora], and at that time, Sephora carried no CBD products, but they were very curious about it because there was a tremendous amount of demand for it from their customers, which has only grown,” Robert Rosenheck, Lord Jones founder and CEO, told Glossy. “One thing they saw in us is that we were leaders in the CBD space because we ran a medical marijuana collective. There was a lot of trust, and we were able to navigate how to bring CBD to market on a national level to their customers.”
Sephora quietly dabbled in the CBD market last October by selling Lord Jones products online, and the plan worked. Currently on Sephora.com, there are now 14 CBD or cannabis-infused products including other luxury brands like Herbivore or Sainte Jane Beauty. Initially, CBD products will be sold in its locations in states including New York, California, Indiana and Kentucky.
The skincare market has been curious about CBD for some time, and today, the trend is hotter than ever. “First and foremost, we are a cannabis brand, and we want to destigmatize cannabis, but our history is also about clean beauty and wellness benefits,” said Rosenheck. “We know CBD is trendy and people are hopping on that bandwagon, but we have been doing this since before it was a trend. We have a product pipeline that showcases innovation in CBD but also active [ingredients] that are beneficial to overall health and wellness.” Find CBD products like Lord Jones in a store near you.
