Long-standing debates over whether Roger Waters or David Gilmore is the true genius behind the world’s greatest psychedelic rock band will be put on hold this month when Waters mounts his mega-staging of Pink Floyd’s 1979 magnum opus, The Wall at the Key Arena. Always known for their artistic theatrical effects, the members of Pink Floyd—whether solo or reunited—never fail to disappoint. And you really can’t screw up The Wall, the band’s eighth album and rock opera focusing on a loner named Pink filled with themes of abandonment and personal isolation—ideas and emotions that just never seem to go out of style, unfortunately. So, even if you’ve had your brain fried by the warped feature film or settled in once or twice for an evening of Floydian laser light shows, don’t think you’ve actually experienced Pink Floyd or The Wall. That can only happen when at least one of the two godheads is present in the same room with you, and this month it’s Waters. Prepare to become comfortably numb.
