When longtime Canlis restaurant pianist Walt Wagner played his final show after over two decades of regular sets at the famed Seattle fine dining establishment, Sub Pop was there to capture the performance in all of its glory. The resulting recordings, entitled Reworks, capture Wagner’s imaginative re-arrangements of modern rock and roll for elegant, evening piano in all of their dazzling beauty and brilliance. Covering the gamut from The Buzzcocks and Prince to Seattle indie rock staples Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses, Wagner’s final performance has a little something for everyone and may serve as the defining document of a true regional treasure.
