Best summed up by character actor Andy Milonakis (the small-stature star of Jimmy Kimmel Live), this guide is “for stoners who like to watch movies stoned, but are too stoned to figure out which movie to watch stoned.” Yes, Pot Culture authors Shirley Halperin and Steve Bloom have joined forces again and compiled a comprehensive tome of more than 420 “mind-bending flicks” in this first-of-its-kind (and apparently much needed) film guide geared for the green community. Filled with obvious rentals such as Psych-Out, this extensive opus includes everything from Thelma & Louise and Putney Swope to Touch of Evil and Airplane!. The capsules are smart and witty (clearly not written while high) and each blurb contains a key of symbols: icons of a blunt, martini, cigarette, cocaine lines, pills, syringe, breasts, mushrooms and beaker tell you all you need to know about what paraphernalia and/or activities are in store. Divided into colorful, photo and quote-laden sections for Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi, etc., the guide also includes celebrity Q&A’s, interviews and “Stony Movie Picks” by everyone from Adrianne Curry to Snoop Dogg. The writing is hilarious and spot-on, and whether you indulge in the green scene or not, this is a book no movie lover can live without.
