[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]T[/dropcap]he 91st Annual Academy Awards will soon take place at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and the show will air live Sunday, Feb. 24, on ABC. Inner sources revealed on Feb. 20 that luxury goodie bags will be handed out to all Oscar nominees, and the bags will contain cannabis-infused luxury truffles, among other things.

Among the nominees, the list of 25 recipients includes Lady Gaga, Melissa McCarthy and Glenn Close for Best Actress; Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe and Rami Malek for Best Actor; plus Adam Driver, Sam Elliott, Amy Adams, Spike Lee, The Coen Brothers and more for various other awards.

According to CNBC, the bags carry a value of over $100,000, up from the $40,000 bags given out last year. They will contain boxes of Coda Signature’s Crescendo truffle collection, with chocolates infused with 10mg THC. Conveniently, Coda Signature is offering non-celebrities a chance to win the same box that Oscar nominees will receive. In addition, the bags will contain a moisturizer and face oil from High Beauty containing cannabis seed extract minus the THC.

Each year, the marketing agency Distinctive Assets puts together the luxury bag items. “While this gift bag does always boast an impressive value, that is never our goal,” Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary told Yahoo Style. “A great gift has nothing to do with the cost. We understand the interest in the ‘wow’ number associated with this now-legendary gift bag but we prefer to simply celebrate the fun and festive nature of the contents … no matter how big or small.” According to reports, companies paid up to $4,000 just to be included in the bags.

This year’s Oscars will be met with controversy already. Kevin Hart dropped out of hosting the award ceremony after being asked to apologize for homophobic comments made in the past. This year’s goodie bags are also generating a mild controversy, and people are imagining high Oscar acceptance speeches.
