[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]O[/dropcap]n Sept. 9, Olivia Newton-John appeared on Australian television program Sunday Night and announced that her cancer has returned at the base of her spine, and she’s once again turning to medical cannabis. It’s the third time she’s facing cancer, after conquering it two times before.

Newton-John told Australian viewers that she lives in California, where cannabis is legal, but hopes to see Australia open the doors to medical cannabis.

“I’m very lucky I live in a state where [cannabis] is legal,” Newton-John said. “My dream is that in Australia soon it will be available to all the cancer patients and people going through cancer or any kind of disease that causes pain.”

Newton-John spent years growing up in England and Melbourne, Australia, but currently lives on a ranch in Santa Barbara, California. Newton-John’s husband John Easterling grows cannabis on the ranch and provides cannabis.

Despite facing cancer for a third time, Newton-John is remarkably positive about the entire situation. “There are other people out there doing much, much worse than me. I’m a very privileged person, and I’m very aware of that,” Newton-John added. “I live in this beautiful place. I have a wonderful husband. I have all the animals that I adore. I have an incredible career. I have nothing, really, to complain about.”

Newton-John also clarified that two recent cancellations for speaking events were not due to her health, but rather due to scheduling conflicts.

Newton-John turns 70 on Sept. 26, and she plans on living a long life, with the help of medical cannabis. Her sister died in 2013 after being diagnosed with brain cancer. She’s already experienced the healing effects of the plant herself the second time she was diagnosed with cancer. For a refresher, Newton-John is one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, as she’s sold over 100 million records worldwide.
