A California cannabis delivery company recently published a report entitled “Eaze Insights: The Modern Marijuana Consumer” which shows the growing trends of cannabis users. Eaze is a cannabis delivery company located in San Francisco that connects potential cannabis users with a consultation online and the opportunity to get a medical cannabis card for $29.

The company’s study used the answers of over 10,000 cannabis users that answered a 32-question survey via email. The study follows a report Eaze published earlier this year using statistics from its 250,000 delivery service clients. This survey focused on wealth, employment, family status and frequency of use, and concluded that cannabis is being destigmatized as further use for medical uses is explored and accepted.

The study explored three segments of cannabis users that are emerging into the mainstream- women, parents and working professionals. 57 percent of those surveyed were “millennials,” followed by Gen X at 21 percent. Gen Z, those born in 1996 or later, came in at 15 percent and seven percent of survey takers were baby boomers. Earlier this year, Eaze had reported that their Baby Boomer consumers grew 25 percent over the last year, while Millennials dropped three percent.

58 percent of respondents use daily, and over two-thirds consider themselves medical users rather than recreational. Two-thirds of respondents were male. 63 percent of cannabis users in the study were parents who consumed daily, preferring to smoke or vape cannabis flower.

The study realized that cannabis users are more educated. 51 percent of cannabis users In California have a college degree, compared to the 39 percent of Californians total who have a degree. Consumers surveyed also earned $75,000 or more a year, versus Average California income is $10,000 less.

91 percent of Eaze survey respondents worked full time, with 19 percent in the technology industry. 60 percent of female respondents used medical cannabis daily, preferring flower to vaporizers and other pipes. 86 percent of those women are now drinking less alcohol because of their cannabis use.

The Modern Marijuana report also showed that cannabis users spend almost as much on cannabis as they do on apparel and services, $1704 annually. 87 percent of survey responders have also reduced alcohol consumption with cannabis use, and over one in ten replacing alcohol entirely.

Parents overwhelmingly turned to cannabis instead of alcohol, with 25 percent of parents surveyed making the switch.
