National Donut Day

National Donut DayEveryone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. While you could stick to a healthy serving of fruit or oatmeal, there is no breakfast or other meal that can compare to that of a donut in terms of satisfaction. Fortunately, today is National Donut Day and there’s no better time to indulge in a sweet treat—especially when its infused with cannabis! Here’s a few easy recipes on how to bake your own cannabis-infused donuts at home, and to top it off with a glass of infused milk or coffee creamer. If you’re new to edibles but want to indulge your sweet tooth, we recommend learning about microdosing before you binge on a baker’s dozen of fun.

Donut Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

¼ cup melted cannabutter

½ cup milk or buttermilk

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepare baking pan and preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine dry ingredients and wet ingredients in separate bowls. Add wet to dry and combine. Spoon into prepared donut pan and bake for 12 minutes, until browned. Let donuts cool, then apply glaze frosting.

Infused Glaze for Donuts

1 ¼ powdered sugar, sifted

3 tablespoon cannamilk, more if needed

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix wet ingredients into powdered sugar, adding more milk if needed to achieve desired consistency.

4 cups whole milk

1 gram finely ground cannabis

Bring milk to a simmer in a pot, reduce heat and stir in ground cannabis. Let steep one hour. Strain and chill.

One gram finely ground cannabis

1 cup whole milk or half-and-half

2 tablespoon vanilla

2 teaspoon honey

Bring milk to a simmer in a pot and stir in cannabis, honey and vanilla. Lower temp and allow cannabis to steep for an hour. Strain and chill in fridge.

(Note: Lipids help separate the cannabinoids from the plant matter, so stick with fattier milk products rather than low-fat milk for this particular recipe.)
