[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]F[/dropcap]ormer heavyweight champion Mike Tyson announced on May 23 his partnership with Fade 2 Karma, a professional esports team, to build a state-of-the-art streaming video game arena in Southern California. Fade 2 Black is best known for playing Hearthstone, a digital fantasy card game created by Blizzard Entertainment.

For the project, Fade 2 Karma will construct a new streaming facility in El Segundo, California, which will fall under the Tyson Ranch company umbrella. It will be called “The Ranch House” and feature private livestreaming rooms, a performance stage for tournaments, content production and a rooftop party deck. An entertainment production studio will also be adjacent to the new facility and will be operated by Fade 2 Karma.

Tyson explained that he first got interested in esports thanks to his son, who is an avid gamer. On May 22, Tyson joined some of the Fade 2 Karma professional Hearthstone players for a livestreaming session that was broadcasted on Alexandra “Alliestrasza” Macpherson’s Twitch channel. “It was pretty awesome. I had the opportunity to really engage with some millennials, which I never really actually do,” Tyson told ESPN. “This is the first time, and I thought it was pretty awesome. We played Hearthstone. I really sucked real bad. You have to start somewhere. I played games before, so I’m going to start over and see what happens from here.”

For awhile now, Tyson has been developing the Tyson Ranch Resort, a 420-acre cannabis resort and complex, featuring a luxury glamping area and cannabis research facility in Desert Hot Springs, California, which is about a two hours from Los Angeles.

Fade 2 Karma was founded by Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering player Tim “Theude” Bergmann in 2015. Since then, the team has expanded to include Hearthstone players and streamers from places as far as the United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and Israel.
