Method Man’s TICAL Cannabis Brand Announces New Edible, Concentrate Products

Method Man isn’t brand new to the cannabis industry. The Wu-Tang Clan rapper and actor launched his cannabis brand, TICAL (named after his first solo album, aka “Taking into Consideration All Lives”), in June 2020 in four Black-owned, California dispensaries. The brand has a socially conscience angle tackling racial injustice and offering opportunities to those in communities disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.

Now, Method Man has shared a new collaboration with two Colorado companies to release TICAL-brand edibles and concentrates, expected to hit shelves in the coming months, according to a Denver Post report.

The new TICAL products include three kinds of gummies, along with Dialed In, which was recently named the top cannabis brand to watch in Colorado by analytics firm BDSA.

The three flavors leverage three strains of TICAL flower and utilize full-spectrum, live rosin extract. The flavors include grape punch and watermelon breeze, using Free M.A.C. cannabis; blood orange and bottle rocket berry, using Sherbet Cake cannabis and dragon fruit and sour raz gummies, using Headbanger Boogie cannabis. The gummy line is set for a May 3 release at Medicine Man stores in Denver, Longmont, Aurora and Thornton.

Method Man is also working with Soiku Bano, named the best rosin manufacturer in Denver by Westword, for the three concentrate products.

The three products include a live rosin cartridge, a live rosin concentrate and a sauce, though details are still limited. The TICAL concentrates are expected to be released on 7/10, commonly known as the second cannabis holiday of the year celebrating oil and concentrates.

Both companies are working with Method Man’s grow partner, Vera Cultivation, to craft his new cannabis offerings.

Method Man made the announcement ahead of his 4/20 show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, just outside Denver, where he spent the day making two stops at local dispensaries that also offer TICAL flower.

“Colorado has been critically important to the recent history of cannabis culture in America. Its smart, practical and progressive policies have allowed people like myself to partner and thrive with industry-leading pioneers like Vera Cultivation and to roll out new products with established local players,” Method Man said in a statement. “Colorado is dope.”

TICAL’s website notes that the term TICAL “was coined as a cannabis term in 1993 and has since became a part of hip hop’s vernacular,” embodying Method Man’s mission to raise awareness around the historic disparities and injustice in cannabis criminalization.

Last year, Method Man said he was especially excited about TICAL’s focus and leadership in the cannabis space, particularly working with Black people, women and minority-owned partners.

“We are going to lead by example and ensure that this newly created market is as inclusive as possible. We can’t right all the wrongs that disparate criminalization of cannabis has done to our communities, but we most certainly can make a down payment on the way forward with social equity, inclusion and full economic participation,” he said.

TICAL products are currently available in Colorado, Nevada and California, though Method Man has voiced his desire to bring TICAL cannabis to New York as its legal market comes to fruition.

“I’m absolutely thrilled at the prospect of bringing TICAL to New York’s newly legalized adult-use market in 2022. Our team has worked long and hard to bring the same energy, creativity and equity to this brand that I have to everything I have done throughout my career,” Method Man said in a statement.
