Considering the band is named for a Black Sabbath album, it’s not surprising that Masters of Reality hasn’t been able to dodge the “stoner rock” or “desert rock” (i.e. Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, et. al.) tags—not when the group’s riffery has been aiding and abetting reddened eyes and dilated pupils since the band formed around 1981. The brainchild of Chris Goss (who produced three Kyuss albums), this New York-bred rock crew has a string of SoCal dates coming up that will various special guests, including Nick Oliveri’s Mondo Generator (for the Nov. 12 date only).
