The last time a truly major rapper-endorsed product hit the market was Beats by Dre, which Dr. Dre sold to Apple last year for $3.2 billion. Dre’s transaction amounted to the highest payday ever in music history. Now, Snoop Dogg is capitalizing on uncharted waters– truth be told, waters he’s been treading for decades before it was “cool.” Leafs by Snoop is a new concept–Snoop’s idea is to brand cannabis flowers, edibles, and concentrates making it the mainstream cannabis brand. Given the success of similar projects, Leafs by Snoop is more or less guaranteed to be a success.
This is the second time in the last few months Snoop has launched a major cannabis-related company.
“Wherever my musical journey has taken me around the world, it’s beautiful to see how chronic leafs are a common source of peace, love, and soul that connects us all,” Snoop wrote in a statement. “Leafs by Snoop is my way of sharing the experience I have with the finest quality cannabis one could imagine. Let’s medicate, elevate, and put it in the air!”
Monday, Snoop officially launched the company. Colorado’s LivWell, will be the first to sell Leafs by Snoop and the product will be rolled out into other dispensaries by the end of November.
“Since I’ve been at the forefront of this movement for over 20 years now, I’m a master of marijuana,” Snoop said at the launch event. “Leafs By Snoop is truly the first mainstream cannabis brand in the world and proud to be a pioneer.”
