Named after one of the most popular strains of cannabis that originated in the Afghan-Pakistan Hindu Kush mountain range, Kush was one of the first plants to be legally licensed (by a British pharmaceutical corp.) for medicinal use. It’s also the name of this expo, which promises an essential array of vendors, seminars, presentations and professionals who can advise growers and users on their legal rights and responsibilities. There’ll also be some fun stuff on the side—and we don’t just mean those awesome massage chairs that always entice us to sit down for a quickie back-knot search and destroy. There’s also a full bar and a host of food items for both meat lovers and herbivores. If you feel like getting foot fancy or have a penchant for psychedelic rock, tribute bands will be on hand: groove to the Mystic Roots Band, rock to Led Zepplica and sway to the perennial Pink Floyd tributers, Which One’s Pink? On top of all this hipster coolness, the ROOR folks are hosting a Kush Girl Contest with prizes ranging from $500 to a fancy water pipe. Other contests and giveaways on the roster, so head out to Anaheim and fight the good fight to legalize medicinal cannabis and protect the civil rights of the sick and infirm. (Jane Mast)
