KROQ Epicenter Twenty Ten

The World Famous KROQ—which has been sporting that title for at least 30 years mostly because Rodney Bingenheimer made it possible and Lisa May makes it sexy—is unleashing a two-day hardcore summer rock fest featuring some classic axe-strummers and beat boxers: fawn all over KISS when they crank up “Rock and Roll All Night” and “Strutter” (swoon when they melodically roll into “Beth”), and pump that fist when Bad Religion (“Infected,” “Los Angeles is Burning”) and Suicidal Tendencies (“Institutionalized”) show you how old skoolers not only hang on, but still beat out most of the younger pack. Also on hand will be Against Me! (and their hot hit “I Was a Teenage Anarchist”), Big Boi (of OutKast), Papa Roach, Crash Kings, House of Pain, Rise Against, Bush, 30 Seconds to Mars and ’90s retro-ers Blink-182 and Eminem. There’ll also be some green-friendly vendors, most notably Lollipipes, who make accessories that you can use and then eat—in a variety of flavors though we’re sure watermelon will be the fave and blueberry might be a hard sell.
