The International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) returns to San Francisco, California for the fourth time on Feb. 1 and 2, at an important juncture for the California cannabis industry, as well as the cannabis movement across the United States and the globe. The ICBC is the first major cannabis business event following the legalization of cannabis in California and since President Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions repealed the Obama administration’s Cole Memo that protected state-regulated cannabis businesses from federal prosecution.

The ICBC is a great opportunity for cannabis advocates, entrepreneurs and investors to check in on the progress of the California system and the challenges facing businesses in the Golden State and around the world. With California “Cannabis Czar” Lori Ajax on stage, attendees will have the chance to have their questions answered by the state’s top regulator.

In addition to hearing directly from Ajax, industry participants will learn from top entrepreneurs, lawyers, advocates and experts in the cannabis space. Speakers and panels will cover the ins and outs of the industry, including: Licensing requirements, lab testing, compliance, delivery, distribution, co-packing and logistics.

One major highlight of the program is a compliance panel moderated by longtime cannabis activist and entrepreneur, Debby Goldsberry, who co-founded the legendary Berkeley Patients Group and now serves as Director of Magnolia Wellness in Oakland. Goldsberry literally wrote the book, Starting & Running a Marijuana Business, bringing decades of experience and practical guidance to the up and coming cannabis businessperson.

Mentored by iconic activist Jack Herer, like ICBC’s founder Alex Rogers, Goldsberry and the entire ICBC organization understand that activism is important for the present and future of depend upon keeping true to our activist roots. “It’s time for the cannabis industry to gather together and find a path forward. The end of prohibition is still far away, and the next steps will be crucial. This includes fighting high taxes, creating equitable access to licenses, and getting access to banking services. ICBC is where we will start the conversation about next steps,” Goldsberry stated.

Anyone in the industry knows that investment is necessary, so the ICBC will focus on investment with two panelists. Paul King of Cannafornia will concentrate on investing in California cultivation while Colorado’s Nic Easley will cover national and international investment opportunities.

No matter your knowledge and investment, knowing how to evolve in an ever-changing landscape is extremely important to thrive in the industry. The ICBC prepares you to roll with the punches, no matter where the regulations are headed.

“Every state that has legalized cannabis has had many changes to the law and regulations and different regulatory schemes for localities. The ICBC will have attendees as prepared as possible,” said ICBC producer Alex Rogers. “We also know that networking is key, so we are almost as proud of our VIP event and after-party, as we are of our curriculum. The ICBC been key to investments made and partnerships fostered all over the world, and San Francisco will be no different.”
