When people in In Time’s dystopian future hit age 25 they stop aging and a green clock implanted in their forearm begins ticking—which instantly kills any individual once it reaches zero. The rich can buy more time, often stacking well over a century onto their life, making them immortal. The poor are left to try and survive with only a day to live at a time. Will Salas might be a poor worker, but he ends up saving Henry Hamilton, a rich man, from being killed. In return, Hamilton gives Salas his century of life to do what he will. As law enforcement agents called Time Keepers chase Salas down for allegedly stealing Hamilton’s time, he kidnaps Sylvia Weis, the daughter of another rich man in hopes of securing a “time” ransom to re-distribute among ghetto dwellers and prompt a change in the social strata. An allegory about inspiring the poor and punishing the rich in an unequal system. (Ashley Bennett)
