Concentrate of the Week: Blueberry Kush CO2 Crumble

The threshold of springtime has officially begun, which means that we’re about to experience an abundance of good weather (rain or shine, it’s all good weather compared to snow) and plenty of blossoming fruit. Although the world is very different in 2020 versus years past, it won’t stop the progression of the seasons across the globe. Even in isolation, it’s difficult to not think about warm spring days and the freedom that comes with being able to frolic out in public—but, c’est la vie. For now, the best you can do to bring a little bit of that springtime feeling home is to try out a concentrate like Blueberry Kush CO2 Crumble.

Although it wasn’t confirmed who the authentic parent strains were of the Blueberry Kush concentrate sample that CULTURE reviewers received, it is likely that by breaking down the name, we can assume that Blueberry and OG Kush had something to do with it. Blueberry is a simple but epic strain that originally won the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2000 for best indica. Its name is undeniable when considered this strain’s tell-tale scent and flavor profile. OG Kush is equally legendary on a different scale. As a powerful hybrid, OG Kush offers part indica and sativa properties and has been included as a parent in numerous other strain varieties. Crossing the two strains created the wonderfully light and fruity Blueberry Kush that has strong, spice-infused aftertaste.

Of course, someone had the genius idea to turn that strain into a concentrate and thus, the Blueberry Kush CO2 Crumble was born. Created through the method of clean extraction, using additive and solvent-free methods to turn it into a delicate CO2 crumble. This dark amber substance has many uses in vape pens, atop bowls and in joints, as well as dabbing too. Complete with clean cannabinoids, this concentrate is perfect for those looking to wind down after a long day, or to help treat a handful of medical conditions and symptoms.

Strain of the Week: Ancient OG

Avatar

Published

on

For years, post-apocalyptic books and films have attempted to predict how the world could end. From zombies to the planet Earth “attacking” its most harmful inhabitants, aka humans, there is a fascination with the theme of “what if?” Some of these ideas include an ancient power awakening beneath the Earth’s crust—whether it be Godzilla emerging from the deepest depths of the ocean, or a population of lizard people reemerging onto the surface. Forget the exaggerated-yet-fascinating plots of authors and filmmakers, and touch something ancient for real. Like Ancient OG, for instance.

Realistically, cannabis could be considered “ancient.” Evidence of its use in rare archeological finds reveal that our ancestors found use for it in numerous ways, just like we do today. Ancient OG is a particularly proud indica-dominant sample. One of its parents is assumed to be a popular Iranian landrace strain. Strains in that family usually have down-to-earth scents and flavor. Think of earth, spice, pine, with perhaps a hint of citrus. All of these are enhanced once consumed, and a finishing touch of sweetness rounds it all out.

Ancient OG’s parents are also known for their flower’s beautiful hues of purple and orange. Ancient OG’s most dominant coloring is orange with an abundance of pistils jutting out of its exterior (and a variety of green hues to fill it out).

Most importantly though, Ancient OG is a hard hitter. It has a clean smoke that leads to a hearty cough, which shows signs of it being well-flushed. Soon after partaking, CULTURE reviewers experienced a relaxed, euphoric feeling for both the body and the mind. It provides a perfect balance between the cerebral and physical effects. There are few better ways to settle down the nerves of anyone worrying about the end of the world—a bit of ancient medicine will put your mind at ease.

Strain of the Week: Lucky Charms

Avatar

Published

Lucky Charms is by no means an unfamiliar brand. Owned by the General Mills food company, Lucky Charms has been a staple in breakfast cereals since 1964. Along with this comes the decades-old mascot, Lucky the Leprechaun, and a sweet cereal featuring marshmallow bits, aka “marbits.” Countless kids have grown up looking at the imagery of this cereal brand and enjoying marbits in the shape of rainbows, horseshoes, moons, hearts and so much more. With a slightly indirect tie-in to St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on Tuesday, March 17 this year, we’re taking a look at a strain called Lucky Charms that is also magically delicious.

When one thinks of Ireland, it usually conjures up images of rolling hills and lush, green landscapes. However, looking at a strain sample of Lucky Charms provides quite a different feeling. The bud is actually covered in vibrant orange and red pistils, with about 90 percent of coverage compared to the green hairs that lie beneath. Although CULTURE reviewers were not provided with information regarding the parents of this lovely looking strain, however other sources claim that two hybrid strains, The White and Appalachia, are to thank. Both are likely leaning in on the dominant side of their properties, offering a relaxed and uplifting experience.

Lucky Charms is reported to have a scent of candy, but not overpowering in the way that perfume might be. There’s a hint of citrus and earthiness underneath that sweet smell that really brings out the pleasantness of the terpene profile. The flavor is similar, with sweet berries and crisp citrus relaxing the senses.

Lucky Charms offers a few unique properties, similar to its reported parent strains. Patients have felt euphorically happy and physically relaxed after trying this strain out. It’s a well-balanced strain that is considered to be ideal for patients with a variety of medical conditions. Ultimately, when you think of that feeling when you dive into a bowl of nostalgia-filled Lucky Charms, that’s what you’re feeling with a strain like Lucky Charms.
