Glaze and Rub: Preparing to Infuse Your 4th of July Feast

[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]T[/dropcap]he U.S. is approaching another birthday since the Constitution was signed, but despite the historical relevancy, most of us tend to just sit out by a pool and eat a lot of grilled protein. Ribs in particular are a popular choice, especially since the 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year—with no work to deal with, there isn’t much else to do other than wait hours for a that beautiful rack of ribs to cook thoroughly. So take advantage of this glorious, mid-week day off to make a delicious, mouth-watering rack of ribs that will not only satisfy your grill-craving, but also have a extra dose of CBD distillate too to make you feel completely satisfied and relaxed.

 

Sweet and Spicy Rib-Rub

No cannabis here, but there are the quintessential herbs and spices necessary to make an amazing rib-rub!

 

Ingredients

1 rack of pork ribs

4 tablespoons brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon dried oregano

2 tablespoons chili powder

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together. Apply to prepared rack of ribs.
  2. Wrap rubbed ribs in foil and save until ready to grill.

 

CBD Distillate-Infused Rib-Glaze

Have patience while this delicious glaze infuses your ribs (which will probably take at least three hours to fully cook).

Ingredients

1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 onion, chopped

1 tablespoon CBD distillate

1 cup ketchup

3/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon celery salt

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat up the oil in medium-sized saucepan. Add in garlic and onion, season with salt and pepper and cook for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pan, and let simmer until the mixture thickens (at least 30-40 minutes).
  3. When you’re ready to grill the ribs, be sure to add this infused rib-glaze half way through the process, applying multiple times for maximum flavor.
