You’re a patient—now what? You’ve got your recommendation taken care of. You’ve lined up a dispensary or got yourself a caregiver. But if you’re going to smoke your meds, it’s probably about time to head on over to your friendly neighborhood smoke shop. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about things. CULTURE brings to you this guide to smoke shop etiquette:
Erase the word “bong” from your mind. Don’t think about that word. A “bong” is an example of illegal paraphernalia. A patient uses a “glass pipe.” DO NOT EVER say the word “bong” in a smoke shop . . . unless you want to be shown the door faster than you can say, well, “bong.”
Leave the flowers at home. NEVER bring cannabis into a smoke shop. Ever. And don’t even bring up the subject. Ever.
When checking out glassware, be careful and handle your bubblers with care. Remember: glass breaks. You break it, you bought it.
Bring photo ID with you. Shops have a strict policy of ensuring they are only selling merchandise to adults, NOT minors.
