Former NBA Player Joins Revolution Global as Board Advisor

[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]F[/dropcap]ormer NBA all-star Jamal Mashburn has joined the board of cannabis health and wellness company Revolution Global as an advisor.

After his playing career, Mashburn has seen success in the restaurant and automotive industries as a stakeholder in over 100 companies, including Papa John’s Pizzas, Outback Steakhouse, as well as Lexus and Toyota dealerships. Mashburn will advise Revolution Global on a variety of issues like marketing and business expansion, such as advocating for the use of medical cannabis for athletes as a substitute for addictive drugs.

“I am thrilled to join Revolution during this exciting period of growth for both the company and the industry,” Mashburn said. “I admire Revolution’s stewardship in the communities where it operates, leadership in pushing for greater social equity, dedication to producing best-in-class products, and commitment to putting patients first. Mashburn joins the growing list of athletes joining the cannabis industry. Former NFL, NHL and NBA players have come out in support of allowing cannabis in their leagues. Former NBA player Al Harrington has launched his own brand of cannabis products under the brand name Viola.

According to de Souza, Mashburn will also play a significant role in helping Revolution with social equity issues, emphasizing that a small percentage of cannabis industry executives are minorities. Mashburn also ensures his businesses play a role in the community and contribute through donations or volunteering.
