[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]L[/dropcap]ooking to grow its industry presence, CannabisMD.com, a digital media company focused on medical cannabis and CBD, has recruited veteran media executive Michael Klein, formerly the executive vice president of MTV and Condé Nast, to be the company’s newest chief executive officer.

As the company was only launched in April of this year, CannabisMD.com’s co-founders, G. Scott Paterson and Rory Millikin, have selected Klein to fulfill the role of CEO due to his extensive experience in building and growing media companies. As CEO he will oversee all creative and business operations for the company.

Klein has also served as a top executive in media companies like SundanceTV, the Travel Channel, TLC and Discovery and plans to use his 20 years of experience navigating mainstream media to further the cause of cannabis normalization.

“We’re in the early days of an enormous cultural shift in thinking around the therapeutic and wellness benefits of medical cannabis and CBD, and a new world of consumers is looking for unbiased, quality information to help them make the right choices for their individual needs and lifestyles,” said Klein in a statement for The Beaumont Enterprise. “We want to grow cannabisMD into a one-stop destination for comprehensive information and trusted voices, presented in the most compelling ways, so consumers can be smart about determining the benefits of medical cannabis and CBD for their loved ones and themselves.”

CannabisMD.com, like other educational resources on cannabis, intends to debunk harmful stereotypes while promoting the therapeutic nature of cannabis.  While some outlets can be biased toward a focus on adult consumption, Klein is seeking to create a resource of unbiased information and content concerning the possible benefits of medical cannabis and CBD.

“Most of the existing content seems to focus on the adult consumption market,” Klein said in a statement for The Beaumont Enterprise. “For me personally, it’s really exciting as I can apply what I’ve learned about content and storytelling to help audiences make smart, informed decisions in this rapidly emerging area of health and wellness.”
