The world’s first dairy dispensary is set to open in Venice Beach located in Los Angeles, California later this month, but don’t expect to find any cannabis products.
Real California Milk announced a reimagining of a traditional cannabis dispensary through its California Dairy Dispensary pop-up shop. The event is expected to take place on Feb. 22 in Venice, California, a city known to be littered with cannabis dispensaries. The event will focus on highlighting the natural mood-enhancing properties of California dairy products, which Real California Milk describes as “all the TLC without the THC.” In an attempt to capitalize on the CBD trend, the California Milk Advisory Board created its own type of “CBD” products.
“California based dairy foods, or CBD for short, not only taste delicious but are a natural way to enter a golden state of feeling everything from bliss to excitement,” said John Talbot, CEO of the California Milk Advisory Board. “A dispensary-inspired setting offers consumers an unexpected and unforgettable way to experience their favorite foods made with real milk produced on family dairy farms using the nation’s most sustainable farming practices.”
The dispensary theme will continue with dairy docents acting as budtenders, there to guide guests through the dispensary and inform guests of the soothing effects of ice cream and butter. Infused butters will be available to sample on kernels of popcorn and “pre-rolls” of ice cream will be available. The pop-up will also have a variety of artisan cheeses presented by “strain.”
“We are playing off a moment in culture where all of a sudden, there’s the normalization of cannabis,” said Mike Frank, senior vice president, creative director at Deutsch LA, said. “Lots of people who were not even into cannabis are now very curious and seeing other ways of self-medicating—that is what we are playing off of.”
