For those, who are fans of a truly authentic Mexican experience, one need not look any further than Costa Mesa’s El Toro Bravo Tortilleria. This little whole in the wall place offers an experience and cuisine that one would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Large stacks of different varieties of meat glisten under glass counters while cooks prepare everything to order while you wait in their steamy, lunch line style set up. Probably most well known for their tacos—which are the size of small burritos—and with their soft, fluffy, homemade tortillas, thick cuts of onions and cilantro and rich, robust salsa, El Toro Bravo may have actually perfected the taco. In addition, the restaurant offers an assortment of other traditional Mexican dishes, as well as a burrito that weighs as much as a small child filled with some of the tastiest refried beans to ever hit your tongue.
