[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]D[/dropcap]uring an appearance on Dudes Talking S#*t In A Truck with SiriusXM DJ Jose Mangin, Disturbed vocalist David Draiman went into detail about his views on cannabis, indicating that he prefers indicas, saying “the heavier, the danker, the more potent—the better.”

For starters, Draiman said that he’d rather spend time with cannabis consumers than with drunks. He also acknowledged that the plant’s healing benefits are authentic and powerful, and that it could be used to combat America’s opioid crisis.

“A lot of the stigmas are being dispelled,” Draiman said. “It’s not being demonized in the ‘Reefer Madness’ sense that it had been portrayed for so many generations. And just the medicinal benefits that it has for so many people and the alternative it provides to people, as far as other medical treatments there that are far more harmful to the body and far more side effects associated with them.”

Earlier, in an interview with Loudwire, the nu metal vocalist said that he’s written “95 percent” of Disturbed’s music while under the influence of cannabis. The band can boast five consecutive albums that debuted at number one on the Billboard 200—a feat that is impressive for any genre of music. For a background, Metallica and Dave Matthews Band are the only other bands that have achieved that accomplishment.

Judging by his answers, Draiman is certainly no stranger to cannabis on a personal level. “I’m all about indica, to be honest,” he added. “The heavier, the danker, the more potent—the better. And when you are improvising, there’s something beautiful about what cannabis just does for you in terms of that wonderful THC high.”

The band’s seventh studio album, Evolution, was released on October 19, 2018, and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, also ending the band’s streak of number one albums. It was, however, the band’s sixth straight Top 5 album. Draiman revealed that he was “higher than a giraffe’s ass” while recording the album. It appears his views on cannabis haven’t changed since then.
