Ocupation: Owner
and Operator of Choice Wellness Center.

How did you get
involved in the cannabis movement?

I have a daughter who was in auto accident that left her
epileptic. Because of my background working in the healthcare industry I would
not allow them to give her Dilantin, she was allergic to phenobarbital. So we
started with tegrital and nothing was working. Somebody had said to me that
they had heard that marijuana can help with seizures and I said, “REALLY?!” I started learning and growing,
and I’ve been doing both ever since.

What is your greatest
achievement for the cannabis cause?

There have been so many things that I’ve tried to do. I’ve
being trying to take part in leading the industry out of the “stoner age” and into
modern medicine. I’ve found that the cannabis community follows by example, so
now I am working with the Legislators and Senators to try to get some good
medical legislation going. A couple of us got together, we took SB-5887 and we
pulled all the bad stuff out and replaced it with good stuff. We’re going to be
the model for other states and it’s really going to succeed if it goes in the
way it is under the health department, which includes good quality control and
having doctors dispensing the herb. We want the doctors saying, “This is the
product I want you to take.”

How has cannabis
benefited your life?

Well I’m alive! Some people would consider that a benefit. I
was diagnosed with cancer four-and-a-half  years ago; a Swedish Hospital guaranteed me
that if I did not do precisely what they said I would be dead within two years.
I understand that they now have changed what they tell people to two years from
five years because I am still alive. I look pretty good for a dead woman I
think.

Who do you look up to
and who do you admire?

Lester Grinspoon, pretty much Lester Grinspoon. There are a
lot of people that in various ways that I follow, like Jim Burton, because he
comes out with a lot of good information about cannabis. God knows Hempfest! I
mean Vivian (McPeak), St. Vivian as far as I am concerned—he is the saint of
this whole movement. I think that everybody has their role and everybody has
their place. The people in the streets to the attorneys, everybody has their
role. It’s all about medicine, its all about sick people.
