Take a trip up the family tree from OG Kush and Sour Diesel with Chem 4, a 60-40 sativa hybrid from Emerald Crossing in San Jose. Chem 4 is a direct descendant of Chemdawg, that mysterious strain which magically materialized at a Grateful Dead concert, as legend has it. On the East Cost, Chemdawg became Diesel, and on the West Coast it turned into OG Kush, so experiencing Chem 4 is like meeting Diesel and OG Kush’s uncle. Our cut of Chem 4 was a super-mutant hybrid, both large and dense, light green and glistening with trichomes. The bulbous, resin-covered nodules separated with a snap, denoting proper curing. An even bigger presence in the room was Chem 4’s smell: a piercing, astringent sourness steps above OG and Diesel.
