[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]F[/dropcap]irst announced at Hall of Flowers last month, Chelsea Handler unveiled her collaboration with NorCal Cannabis to launch her own line of female-focused cannabis products. On May 30, The Press Democrat revealed some of the details behind her foray into commercial cannabis.

The line will include vape products and edibles, and her target demographic is women who have never tried cannabis before or who have been through a bad experience with it such as a bad edible experience. The products will be manufactured at NorCal Cannabis’s 100,000-square-foot facility in Santa Rosa, California.

Handler went through her own bad experience with cannabis once, after she applied on an infused facial mask that apparently was way too potent. She felt off for about three days after the experience. But after giving cannabis another chance, her views on it quickly changed.

“When I ‘rediscovered’ it recently, it helped me get through some tough times, and it helped me get off sleeping pills. I now see it as a part of my overall wellness regime,” Handler stated in a press release, adding that it’s an “integral” part of her life.

Currently, Handler uses edible to help fall asleep, which has helped her cut back from alcohol. “I mean, I’ll always try drugs if they’re in front of me… because I want to be polite,” she said at Hall of Flowers in Santa Rosa, California. “I’m not one of those people who goes crazy, but I’ve been around a lot of those people that do. Usually if I’m too stoned and I can’t handle it, I know to lie down and just go somewhere, you know? I’m not out and about doing that, at least I try not to be.”

Handler first announced her intentions of developing a cannabis line in February 2018. Last year, Handler announced a fireside chat tour hosted by the cannabis media platform Civilized.

NorCal Cannabis’ footprint has been growing, and in January, company officials stated that it had raised $27.4 million in private equity funding.
