Celebrating CULTURE’s 3rd Annual National Donut Day Recipe

Who doesn’t like donuts?! There are so many variations and flavors that there is bound to be one for everyone (even for the gluten-free and vegan folks out there). In 2017, we offered some recipes on the classics—a baked glazed donut, with infused milk or infused coffee creamer. The following year, we served the cannabis chocoholics with a chocolate donut recipe. This year, we’re getting wild with maple. It’s National Donut Day—live a little!

Cannabis Infused Maple Donut

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup cannabis-infused milk

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 donut pan

Maple Glaze

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

  1.     Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2.     To make the glaze, melt butter, syrup and heavy cream in a saucepan on low. Use a whisk to add in powdered sugar. Set aside to cool.
  3.     To make the donut batter, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
  4.     In a separate bowl, mix egg, brown sugar and milk together until well combined. Add melted butter and vanilla, and the pour into dry mix bowl. Mix everything until well combined, but avoid overmixing.
  5.     Scoop or pipe batter into donut pan. Place in oven for about 9-10 minutes. Let cool.
  6.     Once cooled, dip the donut into the glaze mixture and set aside. Best eaten when warm.
