[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]W[/dropcap]hile the mark of the Holiday Season is kicked off with some notable days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the true meaning of the season begins immediately after these two days. This holiday is Giving Tuesday, stylized as #GivingTuesday.

Giving Tuesday is internationally recognized as a day of giving back to the community, in celebration of the start of the holiday season. That’s right, instead of fighting with strangers over deals on televisions, plan to give back to a charity or organization that you support.

In true CULTURE fashion, we’d like to celebrate Giving Tuesday 2018 by highlighting some of our favorite cannabis-related charities and organizations that could use your financial support during this altruistic holiday.

Cannabis Reform Organizations

Advocating and advancing cannabis reform in the United States and beyond has taken a huge amount of effort by many individuals. Organizations like the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and Drug Policy Alliance have been dedicated to reforming cannabis laws for decades, and they could use your support during the holiday season and beyond. You can also opt to donate to local chapters or find organizations that support cannabis reform in your home state.

Organizations that Support People of Color in Cannabis

As we unravel the “War on Drugs” that has disproportionately convicted and incarcerated people of color for cannabis violations, it’s important to support people of color in the developing legal industry. Show your support for Minority Cannabis Business Association by becoming a member on Giving Tuesday. There are membership options for corporations and individuals. You can also donate to The Hood Incubator, an Oakland, California-based group that is dedicated to getting more black and brown community members across the nation actively participating in the cannabis industry.

Children-Focused Cannabis Groups

Some of the bravest heroes of the cannabis movement have been the youths and families who are affected by diseases like cancer, autism and epilepsy. CannaKids is a great organization that was started Tracy Ryan, who is also the mother of Sophie, a child whose cancer and cannabis story was recently featured on Executive Producer Ricki Lake’s documentary, Weed the People. Parents 4 Pot is another organization you can donate to, which advocates for families that deserve access to medical cannabis.

Veterans Cannabis Organizations

United States military veterans deserve our support year-round, but the holiday season is just as good of a time as any to demonstrate our support by donating money. There are various groups you can donate to, of which support veterans’ access to medical cannabis. Based in Northern California, the Santa Cruz Veterans Alliance supports veterans by providing them free medical cannabis. HeroGrown has been fighting for veterans’ rights to consume cannabis since 201, giving away over $3,000,000 worth of cannabis to veterans since. Other notable veterans cannabis organizations include Veterans Cannabis Project, Weed for Warriors Project and Warfighter Hemp.
