A So Cal summer wouldn’t be the same without a tour from our native San Diego sons, Slightly Stoopid. The reggae-surf-punkers bring their Cauzin’ Vapors . . . Legalize It Tour to the OC this month, promoting the mental and physical positives of living green. Joining them will be rising star Collie Buddz, and special guests Cypress Hill, who will be rapping out their hits “Insane in the Brain,” the hemp-happy “Dr. Greenthumb” and new material from their album, Rise Up, released in April. The tour isn’t only about good music and good vibes, but also seeks to bring awareness to marijuana law reformation, throwing its support behind orgs such as NORML, Tax Cannabis, and the Marijuana Policy Project.
The Surfrider Foundation is also a much-beloved nonprofit, so expect to see booths from them, Grand Daddy Purp and others. It’s really all about promoting the inherent peace and positivity of cannabis culture, so join the guys for a night of beats, ska, and hip-hop-tinged artistry—and in the words of their promoter, “Don’t be surprised if you see a big smoke cloud over Irvine that night.”
Overcast with a chance of showers? We’re sure that’s what he meant. (Jane Mast)
