It’s a whole new world, and as we collectively embrace cannabis along with new digital technologies, a new platform is launching to combine the two. Cannaverse Technologies, which assists companies entering the new Web3 and the Metaverse, announced the launch of the world’s “first cannabis-focused Metaverse,” said Cannaland.

For those who need a bit of catching up, the Metaverse is a new term meant to reference the future, virtual world. A story from Wired dives into the new phenomenon, describing a virtual world that continues to exist even when one user isn’t playing. It also doesn’t require that those spaces be exclusively accessed via virtual or augmented reality.

Companies are also hopping on board the Metaverse train with the vision of a new digital economy, where users are able to buy, create and sell goods. While it’s still an immensely complex task to take on, many Metaverse advocates are also hoping to take those items with you, enabling portable digital assets that can move from one platform to another (though, as of right now, this is only an idea).

Cannaland is meant to connect “every facet of the cannabis and hemp communities,” the Cannaverse press release notes, looking to revolutionize the ever-changing marketplace and continue opening the landscape for globalization of current and future brands.

Cannaland will allow consumers and businesses alike to operate beyond borders, enabling users worldwide to operate in a single domain, free of boundaries and unique, localized regulations that exist.

“Combining the power of a cannabis metaverse and the early successes of NFT marketplaces will produce a commanding opportunity for the cannabis and hemp world,” according to the Cannaland website.

Cannaversetech utlizied its experience in the blockchain, crypto and cannabis industry to create the new cannabis-themed community and meta marketplace. Cannaland will feature “all aspects” of socially responsible cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, distribution, retail sale and consumption of cannabis and hemp products.

While prioritizing community building and revenue generation, Cannaland’s Metaverse is also looking toward product marketing, manufacturing and merchandising for brands.

The platform’s value proposition to cannabis businesses is that they are fully able to capitalize on the economic interactions between their presence and potential customers and visitors. “The platform will allow three things to be traded: currency, goods, and services,” according to the site.

Per the Metaverse and many elements we’re familiar with up to this point, Cannaland describes its vision on its website as “immersive virtual reality,” for both businesses and consumers. The “coin of Cannaland” is described as the Cannaland Token, or CNLT, a Ethereum based cryptocurrency.

“The Cannaland token, CNLT, will enable commerce that will drive Cannaland. These tokens provide consumer rewards and indisputable proof of ownership of goods, services and properties that is more secure than any land deed,” the website reads.

Cannaland also features a play-to-earn gaming model and property ownership opportunities for virtual real estate

Cannaverse CEO Mark Conner cited the “exponential growth” of the cannabis industry, along with the popularity of crypto, tokens and EFTs in forging forward, adding that “right now is the perfect time to support the industry by providing them with the tools and marketplace to revolutionize the industry.”

“At Cannaversetech we saw the convergence of cannabis and crypto and are working to modernize the trade by addressing and resolving the existing gaps in the industry,” Conner added.

Cannaversetech also promotes the Cannalearn Foundation on their site, meant “to educate the public on the ethical use of medicinal and recreational consumption of all forms of cannabis.” In addition to promoting the safe and socially responsible cultivation, production, distribution and social use of recreational cannabis, the foundation supports causes for individuals unjustly affected by inequities related to the War on Drugs and legislation prior to cannabis legalization.

“To educate the public on the ethical use of medicinal and recreational consumption of all forms of cannabis.”

Will this be the start of a new, integrated digital world and cannabis community? Only time will tell, but maybe we’ll see you in Cannaland.
