[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]G[/dropcap]etting education on the ever-growing medical uses of cannabis is becoming more essential for medical professionals. A nurses’ educational group answers the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s guidelines for cannabis patient care with a three-day conference that both educates and indulges those looking for accredited cannabis information. The Cannabis Nurses Network Conference begins Feb. 28 and continues through March 2 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, California.

The Cannabis Nurses Network, established in 2015, is a professional education and development network which organizes the annual conference for hundreds of cannabis nurses and licensed medical professionals. It is designed to broaden the knowledge of cannabis medicine, the endocannabinoid system and cannabis’ uses in patient care and medical practice.

Among the featured speakers at the conference are CannaKids and Saving Sophie founder Tracy Ryan, former New Orleans Saints tight end Boo Williams and founder of Black Ghost Enterprises, and CannaSexual founder and former CULTURE columnist Ashley Manta. San Diego councilwoman Barbara Bry will deliver the opening remarks.

The conference includes targeted industry expert panels, a dispensary tour, vendors, celebrity athlete sports panel, award show and several events, including a “self-care Saturday” towards  the end of the conference that includes samples and pampering sessions. Topics for speakers include using cannabis to break against the opioid epidemic, legal education and patient care utilizing cannabis.

“Cannabis nurses are revolutionizing the future of plant-based healthcare. In response to a national shift that is currently occurring in healthcare, and specifically within the nursing profession, it has become imperative to provide nurses with access to high-level education involving the science, research, and implementation required for sustaining evidence-based practice regarding cannabis patients,” CNNC founder, cannabis advocate and nurse Heather Manus stated in a press release. “CNN Is heeding the call to deliver this important education during CNNC.”
