[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]A[/dropcap]fter nearly two years of preparation, Vape & Play has secured a social consumption license to open the first-ever cannabis-friendly arcade. The venue will become the second designated consumption area to be approved in Denver, Colorado.

While the venue will be bring-your-own-cannabis, it will feature vaping hook-ups and provide places for people to vape cannabis socially. Patrons can also bring in their own concentrates. “Every ticket purchased also includes unlimited access to consume your (BYOC) favorite cannabis flower or concentrates at our in-house vape bar, with the help of our highly trained vapetenders who will insure every hit is perfect for you,” the company stated.

Founder Taylor Rosean struggled with the strict requirements to apply for a business under Denver’s Initiative 300, which legalized social consumption areas. “It’s a pretty complicated process that actually required us to pay for the property to be empty for six months just to even get to this point,” he told Colorado Public Radio. “It’s been a little hair raising. It’s definitely a very nerve-wracking process but at the end it’s been incredibly fruitful and very much so worth it.”

The project includes plans to build a custom saloon-style bar that will feature build-in vaporizers. The business also plans on selling the vaporizers. The venue will also host occasional corporate or bachelor parties. The business model could be applied to other potential business ventures. “Denver will hopefully one day become the cannabis consumption mecca, and possibly the cannabis capital of the world,” Rosean said.

Vape & Play is set to open this fall on 1753 South Broadway in Denver’s “Green Mile” district after it passed through final inspections. The venue was previously a cycle and auto parts shop. The only other business to receive a social consumption license in Denver is The Coffee Joint.
