Colorado might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of death metal, but Denver quartet Call Of The Void just put out one of the heaviest, darkest albums of the year with Buried in Light. Punishing, propulsive and heavy as hell, the new record not only sounds the most explosive of any of the band’s releases so far, it’s also definitely the best produced. Loaded up with all of the ferocious rhythms and glorious riffs one can hope for, Buried in Light will envelope listeners like a black fog and inspire uncontrollable head banging. (Simon Weedn)
