What’s the story
behind the name of your dispensary?

We opened the business with people we grew up with. We’re
not really brothers, but we’re like brothers, and it’s like we’re brothers to
everybody else. So that’s where we came up with the name “Brothers.” We’re
pretty much brothers to the community, we’ve been in this neighborhood for over
30 years and we’re proud to have a collective where we were raised.

What does your dispensary
offer patients that they can’t find anywhere else?

When you come to Brothers, you get a great atmosphere and
everything that we have is well priced. We have reasonable prices—we probably
have some of the lowest prices—especially for the quality that we’re giving
out. We don’t have outdoor strains here, so all of the strains you’re going to
get are going to be nice, clean, indoor-grown products. Our specialty is that
all of our strains are grown by local growers that give their plants a lot of
TLC.

If someone wanted to
open a dispensary and get their feet wet in the industry, what advice or
counsel would you give them?

Number one, make sure there aren’t any schools nearby.
People are throwing all of their money into a dispensary and they’re not even
in a place that’s zoned correctly. Another thing is that there’s a lot of
business people coming into this industry that don’t know anything about
cannabis and they’re coming in looking at the numbers, so get a sense for the
cannabis industry, how the people are and how it’s moving. Also don’t be too
optimistic about making money, just make it a point of building a place that
you make for people to come.

What is the most
important thing you hope to accomplish while in the MJ/MMJ community?

Our key to the community is not prescribing cannabis for
whatever symptoms they need to smoke it for, we want to do our best to make
sure we’re giving them the right meds. In the community, we just want people to
be open about it and to understand what’s going on.
