eople were shocked when a former
Alaska TV reporter quit
her job
live on air to promote medical cannabis last September. Charlo
Greene worked for KTVA-TV when she abruptly told the audience that she was the
secret proprietor of a cannabis facility and wanted to become a cannabis
activist full-time:

“Now
everything you’ve heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club,
will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness,
which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska. And as for this job,
well, not that I have a choice but, f— it, I quit.”

On Friday authorities raided the Alaska Cannabis Club which is owned and operated by Greene, after
receiving reports of illegal sales from the dispensary according to the
Anchorage Police Department. The police confiscated cannabis, paraphernalia, computer records, bank
statements and two vehicles.

This comes at the heels of a
landmark decision to legalize recreational cannabis in Alaska that was passed
in November and was instigated last month. The new law allows those 21 and
older to grow and use the plant, yet it is illegal to sell it until the state
Legislature introduces guidelines for businesses.

But Greene, also known as
Charlene Egbe,
stated that her store doesn’t distribute any cannabis. “This
is basically a [cannabis club],”
Greene said. “We don’t sell any recreational
marijuana, we don’t sell any medical marijuana. This is a place for card
holders to come and share their own cannabis.”

Greene posted a
cheeky message
on her Instagram
page
Saturday
night, promising the public the club will remain open. “Today, a day after
we were robbed by the Anchorage Police Department at gunpoint, we met with an
endless flow of club members that stopped by to simply say, ‘You’re still here,
and so are we,'”
she said. “I can’t
tell you all how much this meant to me and my family but know that just trying
to express my gratitude right now through text has me in happy tears.

The club will continue
to remain resilient, states Greene.

“THE
PEOPLE WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT BEING VICTIMS IN THIS WAR ON DRUGS,”
Green wrote. “WE ARE FREEDOM FIGHTERS AND
WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED, bitch.”

Ms. Greene is
certainly living up to her last name and fighting the good fight.
