Appreciating the Artistic Work of Jeff Zimmerman

Cannabis art has a style all its own, but the work of Jeff Zimmerman is by far one of the most impressive examples in the growing niche. Chicago, Illinois-based painter, Zimmerman, created a large-scale cannabis painting that is valued at $35,000.

Zimmerman is most well-known for his participation in large scale public murals, which often require him to be suspended in the up to 160 feet in the air. But what’s most impressive is his ability to create hyper realistic public works, which often contain references to pop culture or “sensitively rendered portraits.” His talent has garnered worldwide attention, and previously Zimmerman has been interviewed and covered by large media outlets such as The Today Show and The New York Times.

Zimmerman’s dedication to turning a small print into a high-quality masterpiece is known throughout the country. In fall 2017, he adapted an original work from a small piece of art entitled Rushmore into a 13,5000-square-foot public piece on the wall of the Chicago Cultural Center. Other examples include large 250-foot and 5,000-square-foot works as well.

But among all of his previous projects, Zimmerman has yet to show off his talent in a solo exhibit—until now. “EVERYTHING” opened in mid-October and runs through Nov. 10 at the Zhou B Art Center, which is the first place to exhibit Zimmerman’s unique style. There, attendees will find his pieces Meat, Gold and most importantly, Weed. Each of the pieces is valued at $35,000.

His use of colors brings out the beauty in all of his paintings, especially his latest work entitled Weed. Standing at six-by-12 feet in length and created solely with acrylic paints, Zimmerman brings out the beauty of a single cannabis flower. With intricate detail in the green and white highlights, and vibrant orange pistils poking out from within, Weed represents the striking, visual appeal of cannabis.
