When and how did you become an advocate
for cannabis?

After
getting three felony possession MMJ charges as a minor, the last being a joint
behind my ear, I became an outspoken advocate for medical marijuana. About 15 years
ago, I started researching its harmful side effects (none) while finding out
that pharmaceuticals are responsible for over 100 deaths a day (
cdc.gov), why it became illegal (DuPont), everything oil-based
from cosmetics to gas can be replaced by hemp, plus the countless number of
harmful pills that marijuana can replace.

Are you an advocate for other causes as
well?

I
am a member of Kelly’s Army and In League Press, which is a growing group of
people dedicated to holding police officers accountable when they violate their
constitutional oath to serve and protect the people. We travel to neighboring
communities to help strengthen the victims of police brutality.

As
an In League journalist, I document protests, events, gatherings, marches,
vigils and memorials by live-streaming them for posterity, and I help educate
the public about their rights and responsibilities as community members. I will
also turn into advocate mode anytime election time comes around, helping to
encourage participation as our best defense to the political abuse in the
system in place.

How has cannabis benefited your life?

Life,
for me, can be overwhelming at times. I empathize with the incredible human
suffering, and the atrocities that happen daily. Anxiety can paralyze my
motivation. Physical pain can destroy my will power. I medicate and meditate to
strengthen my body and my will power.

What’s your greatest achievement in
advocacy?
Individually, I feel like I haven’t accomplished much. I
advocated for Prop 215 and SB-420, and host and participate in education and
protesting when injustice arises. And I won’t stop until a well-written bill
gets passed to make our medicine of choice recreational. I also campaign for Gary
Johnson, New Mexico’s former Governor, and is on the ballot for the 2016
presidential election, running (again) as the independent candidate. As a part
of Kelly’s Army, we have recalled a Fullerton Police Chief and three Fullerton
city council members.

Who do you look up to or admire? Michael
Phelps, MLK, Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, Ben Swann, Michael Hastings,  Chelsea
Manning, Stephan Baxter, Hunter S. Thompson, O’ryan Moore, Ron Paul, Mike
Kissel and Justin Amash.

If you could change one thing about the
way cannabis is viewed and/or treated right now, what would it be?

The
government just pulled the funding for research that was being conducted by the
University of Arizona on all medical benefits of marijuana. I would like
science to get the green light for studying every aspect of cannabinoid
therapies and treatments.
