[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]S[/dropcap]ome of the best things to buy during the holidays are video games—and 2018 was an amazing year for gaming! Here’s a list of just a few of the best games that came out this year, all of which can be fully enjoyed by consuming cannabis or not. Because let’s face it, video games can be all the more entertaining when cannabis is involved.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

The Assassin’s Creed series has come a long way since its origin in 2007. Although there have been some ups and downs with previous games, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey delivers an awesome journey in 431 BC. The game’s epic storytelling leads players through Greek regions, and it offers satisfying gameplay to boot.

Battlefield V

Battlefield games have been around for ages, exploring massive war zones from 1942 to modern times. There are various multiplayer modes to enjoy, but of course a continual stream of multiplayer matches with friends (with matches of 64 players in all) is one of the best ways to spend the holiday.

God of War

Speaking of mythology, God of War revisits the fascination with gods and mythical creatures in this somber but beautiful action adventure title. With Norse inspiration, our hero Kratos takes his son on a journey to who knows where, all the while meeting unique characters and beating the crap out of elves, trolls and who knows what else.

Marvel’s Spider-Man

Games based on Marvel’s web slinging hero have not always been successful. Engineering a seamless flow of action, not to mention the physics involved with using web strings to fly through New York City, is a difficult task. But this game does it all, and it does it really well. Marvel’s Spider-Man will deliver with gorgeous graphics and a story that plays off of the comic book hero’s personality quite well.

Red Dead Redemption II

Massive sandbox exploration? Check. Rootin’ tootin’ cowboys? Check. Ability to rob trains, hogtie enemies, and catch wild horses? Triple check! Red Dead Redemption II is strong contender for the Game of the Year Award, and it’s for good reason. The game contains hours of entertainment, whether you decide to progress with quests or just go out in search of a legendary animal to hunt.

Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy

Come for the better graphics, stay for the nostalgia factor. This game isn’t new, but was beautifully redone for a modern player base. It certainly isn’t challenging by any means, but still loads of fun, especially if every turn takes you back to the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Super Smash Bros™. Ultimate

The Super Smash Bros. community has been going strong for years, and it’s still one of the best fighting games on the market. Not because it looks realistic, but because it is ridiculous. Ultimate abilities are insane, and so are the characters. The Wii Fit Trainer from the Wii era? A piranha plant?! These are just a few of the many characters, both classic and new, that players get to experience.
