Snoop Dogg just made the deal of the century for cannabis. The rapper launched his own branded cannabis line, Leafs by Snoop, last November, as well as a venture capital fund called Casa Verde Capital. Now, he’s signed a three-year deal with Ontario-based Tweed, which signifies international potential for the company.

“There are real social and medical benefits from the cannabis industry, and the world is seeing this positivity in a whole new way,” Snoop Dogg wrote. “Canada has been at the forefront of the business model, and I look forward to being a part of the road ahead.”

Snoop sold the rights to his company, LBC Holdings, for an undisclosed amount, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently promised to legalize cannabis, and Tweed, Canada’s largest medicinal cannabis manufacturer, merged with Bedrocan last year.

The merged company reportedly has the capacity to produce 6,000 kilograms of cannabis per year.

Mark Zekulin, President of Tweed, is preparing for recreational cannabis in the near future. “The deal locks us in a relationship with a connoisseur and icon in the cannabis space,” Zekulin said. The contract is valid for three years and can be renewed at the end of the term.

Last year, Snoop appeared on the 10th season of the much-beloved Canadian series “The Trailer Park Boys,” where he rapped with Bubbles (Mike Smith). Canada has grown to be a safe haven for cannabis enthusiasts. “Much love Canada! #positiveprogress” Snoop tweeted.

Snoop Dogg has taken his business up north, adding yet another “cannalebrity” status endorsement. Tweed will pay in cash and stock in exchange for exclusive rights. Partnering with a publicly traded cannabis company changes everything for this commercial cannabis game.
