[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]M[/dropcap]usician-endorsed cannabis lines appear to be the topic of the month. Following Snoop Dogg’s branded cannabis line, Leafs by Snoop, others have announced their investments. The Weeknd, Willie Nelson, Jimi Hendrix’s brother Leon Hendrix, and now Rihanna, have all been connected to reports of cannabis brands over the last few months. A cannabis line in 2015 is about as appropriate as a fragrance line.

According to USA Today, Dazed Digital and Marie Claire, Rihanna is reportedley launching her own cannabis line MaRihanna. In the past, Rihanna has endorsed boots, socks, a beauty agency, and her own fragrance, “RiRi.” Rihanna has modeled for the fashion giants Armani, Dior, Puma, Balmain, and more. Now, the Barbadian singer/songwriter is CEO of MaRihanna. Rihanna is reportedly incorporating her Caribbean ancestry into her new enterprise. Rihanna’s line will include exotic strains like “Karibbean Kush,” “Haitian Haze” and “Jamaican High Grade.” Naturally, the cannabis line will include an edible branch.

“MaRihanna by Rihanna is truly the first mainstream cannabis brand in the world and proud to be a pioneer,” Rihanna reportedly said recently at the Jamaica’s Cannabis Cup.

For a bit of background, it’s worth noting that Rihanna covered Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song” for Hope for Haiti Now in 2010 and freely posts photos of herself on Instagram smoking cannabis frequently with the hashtag #LegalizeIt.

Musicians are putting their own twist on the look and theme of their cannabis product lines. The state of the products in the cannabis industry has been compared to artisanal chocolate products with good reason.

MaRihanna reportedly goes on sale in Colorado early next year. If so, Rihanna’s company and others like it will likely expand into Washington, Oregon and wherever else cannabis is legal in the coming months as the industry expands rapidly. Rihanna’s investments precede her new album ANTi which is slated for release on streaming services Nov. 27.
