2006

The LMFAO moniker is chosen based on an iChat conversation between Sky Blu and his grandmother. For those who have been living under a rock for the past decade or are otherwise totally out of the loop, LMFAO stands for “Laughing My Fucking Ass Off.”


2007

The duo performs at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. The feel-good vibes they get from South Beach residents serves as the inspiration for the song “I’m in Miami Bitch.”


July 2008

LMFAO releases Party Rock on iTunes.


July 2009

“I’m in Miami Bitch” peaks at No. 51 on the Billboard Top 100. The song is also used as the opening theme to the reality show Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami.
September 2009

The single “La La La” peaks at No. 51 on the Billboard Top 100. It later is used by performers/contestants on So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew and Dancing with the Stars.
October 2009

LMFAO launches its own clothing line, Party Rock. Big surprise.
April 2010

LMFAO opts out of performing at the Creamfields music festival in Australia in order to open for the Black Eyed Peas on tour. This same month, the duo co-headlines on the Bamboozle Roadshow Tour along with 3OH!3, Boys Like Girls and Third Eye Blind.
October 2010

The duo gets nominated for Best New Artist at the Hip-Hop Nation Awards. The song “La La La” also gets noticed and ends up nominated for Best Rap Song with Group.
December 2010

As an early Christmas present to their fans, LMFAO gives away a free download of their new single to whoever emails them.

2011

The new album, Sorry for Party Rocking, is scheduled for release.
