It’s been 30 years since Metallica skinsman Lars Ulrich placed a want ad simply stating, ”Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with, Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden.” One by one, past and future members of Metallica were brought together and the rest, as they say, is (metal) history. In celebration of the band’s 30-year career (the band relocated to El Cerrito in 1982), Metallica invited a select group of fans—via lottery—from the Metallica Club to a four-day stint at the Fillmore last month. Each show had an exclusive set list with no repeats, aside from the established show closer “Seek & Destroy.” The likes of Glenn Danzig, Marianne Faithful, Kid Rock and Lou Reed all performed with the band.  (Photos courtesy of BB Gun Press)
