[dropcap class=”kp-dropcap”]I[/dropcap]n support of Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), High Times is selling Pink Leaf Pins to promote awareness about breast cancer. All proceeds will go towards the BCRF. Wearing a pink leaf-shaped pin raises awareness not only for breast cancer, but also for medical cannabis awareness.

According to the National Breast Care Foundation, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. It’s the most common form of cancer diagnosis in women. On average, 252,710 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and more than 40,500 will die. It’s easy to forget that breast cancer also affects men, and on average, 2,470 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and approximately 460 will die.

But with organizations like BCRF, efforts are underway to discover new treatments for breast cancer. “At BCRF, we fund the game changers,” the organization stated on its website. “Today, we support nearly 300 women and men through our grants to make a real difference and accelerate progress. Get to know them and learn about their projects.” According to the organization’s website, BCRF has raised over half a billion dollars toward breast cancer projects. For instance, th organization has helped uncover hereditary links between women and breast cancer.

The color pink has represented breast cancer awareness since at least 1982. With early detection, and growing knowledge about the links between breast cancer and hormone replacement therapy, we can fight breast cancer worldwide.

There is a growing body of evidence to support the idea that cannabinoids, especially used together using the “entourage effect,” may have antitumor properties that are beneficial to men and women suffering from breast cancer.
